First of all, the software is trapped inside the memory of a digital processing system and its existence is only a sequence of switching gates. Can we say that the software instructions is its physical existence and the execution is its life or soul. For software, the power-on is the great big-bang. Before that the time (the system clock) as they know it - did not exist. For them, the universe started from the moment a random noise on the switch caused the oscillator to tick. The clock speed is the speed of light that puts the maximum limit on everything that happens in its universe. Any event can happen only in a quantum steps of the system clock.
